When Jesus spoke "“Do not be afraid, little flock, for it is your Father’s good pleasure to give you the kingdom," in Luke 12:32, he was helping his followers, and by extension us, to learn to trust. It is a good time to learn that trust. We've seen a great deal of wealth moth-eaten recently. My suggestion is to take some of the wealth we've trusted, give it away and watch what happens. In the mean time we'll have more time to pray, shifting our trust from things to God. I admit it's a risky challenge. But I think we in America need to take a careful look at what we're doing with our possessions. We're probably not at risk for trusting God too much and our wealth too little. Are we?
Aligning our Treasure: These words “Do not be afraid, little flock, for it is your Father’s good pleasure to give you the kingdom," in Luke 12:32... speaks to me about my nearness to loosing my spiritual "kingdom" focus by being consumed by a natural "worldly" frame of mind. For me, it is not so much about trusting and giving away some or all my possessions, but rather listening, trusting and sharing what I have been entrusted with in joy and praise to His presence in my life. What is our "Treasure"? I suggest it is far more than our material possessions that do some times consume us, causing us to loose our focus, our Trust, sometimes missing The Way entirely.
